"Don't Be Afraid of the Dark"
Photographer: Michal (Beth) Freeman
I chose a portrait of my own titled "Don't Be Afraid of the Dark". My chosen subject was depth. I feel like this photo really illustrates the subject of depth through multiple reasons. It shows a foreground that's really in focus, while the mid and background are in varying levels of focus. The layers gradually blur as you look farther into the photo. The composition of the photo also lends itself to depth. The subject of the photo is walking into a darkened doorway making your eye follow the line of motion into the photograph. The black and white color scheme also gives the appearance of it slowly going in towards the center of the photograph. The outside of the doorway is white and then the photo becomes darker the farther in you look.
